Bactroban is used to treat bacterial skin infections such as impetigo.
General information
Bactroban contains mupirocin, it is an antibiotic which fights with bacteria.
Directions
Do not stop treatment without permission of your doctor even if you feel better. Avoid application of the cream on eyes, nose, moth and lips. In case the medication gets in the areas wash them with water. Signs of improvement appear in 3-5 days. If you don’t see any improvement you should contact your doctor.
Precautions
Inform your doctor if you have any kidney diseases (because it can contain polyethylene glycol which affects kidneys). In case you are pregnant this medication can be used only if it is clearly needed.
Contraindications
Do not use Bactroban if you are allergic to mupirocin, other components of the cream, or have any other allergies.
Possible side effects
Serious side effects are not common nevertheless if you experience unusual skin irritation, itching, blistering, itching, redness, peeling, dryness stop using the medicine and inform your doctor.
Drug interaction
Avoid usage of other topical medications on the same areas as Bactroban.
Missed dose
Take the missed dose as soon as possible. Skip the missed dose if it is time for your next scheduled dose. Do not take extra medicine to make up the missed dose.
Overdose
Overdose is not expected. If you consider that you took too much of this medications inform your doctor.
Storage
Store your medicines at room temperature between 59-77 degrees F (15-25 degrees C). Store away from moisture and light. Keep it out of the reach of children and away from pets.
